Juaneno Park, Laguna Niguel, CA. - This game lived up to expectations. The Blaze hadn’t been scored on all season, and only once in the previous 3 playoff games. La Mirada averages about 4 goals a game. After a full sprint down the left, Gianna of the Blaze scored the game’s first goal from about 15 feet out, likely with her left foot. I’ve seen her signature move before! The Holley girls kept the ball in the offensive zone most of the game, and when LMSA did threaten, the best defense in the league quickly put out the fires. There were two other big moments, one was a long cross that bounced high and Alice somehow got her leg on it and just missed. That would have given the Blaze a 2-0 lead and iced it late in the game, but it sure put a buzz into the decent sized crowd. The Blaze parents feeling like that was almost “Game Over”, but the LMSA parents had to be thinking they could capitalize on their good fortune and go tie this thing! Not long before that play with the score at 1-0, the Blaze was called for a foul inside the box and awarded a Penalty Kick. LMSA sent out their ace to take to the kick. Jayden was in goal for the Blaze and began waving her arms and jumping around, making the net look small. There was some delay as the ref spotted the ball so Jayden continued. La Mirada’s girl put a rocket drive on net, but it was too much and it banked off the crossbar. Wow. Awesome game. There were a lot of cameras here for this game, so I took some liberty and shot some fans, hoping to get something that may have been missed by the Blaze Papparazzi!
